Carnivorous Plants Identification & Propagation Books

Welcome to the Bouldercreek Bookstore's catalogue page for books about Carnivorous plants propagation and identification.
Carnivorous plants belong to that small group of plants that grab the imagination as these unusual and fascinating plants reverse the usual order we expect to find in nature. They are the predators rather than the passive prey. As mysterious as they are beautiful, carnivorous plants thrive in acidic bogs, open Savannah's, and slow brown-water streams and lakes, all of which lack the mineral-rich soil associated with luxuriant plant growth.
Uniquely adapted to nutrient-poor soils, they thrive where other plants fail because of this unique ability to obtain necessary minerals by attracting, trapping, and then digesting insects. The widely-known carnivorous plants are the Venus Fly Trap and the various pitcher plants, but there are many other kinds of plants using other strategies to capture prey.
These books cover carnivorous plant identification, plant propagation, carnivorous plant culture and cultivation, and special uses of these plans.
In addition, we have included several excellent books for collecting, processing and germinating wild plant seeds. Covering collecting, harvesting, cleaning, and storage of seeds, and methods of stratification and other germination processes. Plus instructions on building and using a greenhouse.
The following list of books were carefully selected by our research staff for nursery workers, botanists, biologists, the do-it-yourself propagator, and home gardeners. These books were selected because their text material is clearly written, easy to follow, and usually are accompanied with instructive photographs and detailed illustrations. And that if followed closely
by the reader, the reader should be able to perform the work necessary to complete a successful propagation project.
